London-based Nothing today launched the most expected Nothing Phone (2) today. It has the same transparent design, Glyph interface, comes with upgraded specifications, and the price has also increased. Here we have the unboxing and first impressions of the phone.

The Nothing phone (1) has a 6.7-inch Full HD+ OLED LTPO display with 1-120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. Since the screen has up to 1600 nits peaks brightness, it is bright even in outdoors. It has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the front.
It is powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC with 8GB / 12GB LPDDR5 of RAM and 128GB / 256GB / 512GB UFS 3.1 storage. The phone has support for 19 5G bands. The phone runs Android 13 with Nothing OS 2.0 on top that brings several customizations for grid design, widget size, and color themes, and has new folder layouts.
The company has promised 3 years of OS updates and 4 years of security updates for the phone, same as the Phone (1).
Inside the tiny punch-hole there is a 32-megapixel camera with Sony IMX615sensor and f/2.4 aperture, an upgrade from 16MP camera in the Phone (1). The earpiece grill is on the top edge, which doubles as up as a secondary speaker.
It has an in-display fingerprint scanner, which is quick to unlock the phone, immediately after you keep the finger in the area. There is a small chin below the display. Since the phone uses a flexible OLED panel, the company has managed to make the bezels uniform.
Coming to the button placements, the power button is present on the right side and the volume rockers are on the left side. The dual SIM slot, primary microphone, USB Type-C port and the loudspeaker grill are on the bottom. The secondary microphone is on the top. Since the sides have a 100% recycled aluminum, and it doesn’t attract fingerprints.
Over 80% of plastic parts made from recycled and bio-based materials. The phone has 100% recycled tin used on 9 circuit boards, 100% recycled copper foils used for the main board, and over 90% recycled steel used for all 28 steel stamping parts, says the company.
It has Corning Gorilla Glass protection on the glass back. Compared to IP53 ratings in the Phone (1), this has IP54 ratings for dust and water resistance. The Glyph Interface on Phone (2) has more LED segments to allow for greater customizability and functionality.
The Glyph Interface can now serve as a visual countdown and progress tracker for ride or delivery services. It also offers additional functionalities such as a volume checker, and timer.
With Essential Glyph Notifications, users can stay focused without missing what matters the most. When receiving a notification from selected contacts or apps, the top-right LED segment will remain on until it has been addressed.
The phone has dual rear camera with a new 50MP main camera with f/1.88 aperture, Sony IMX890 sensor, OIS and retains the 50MP 114° ultra-wide camera with Samsung JN1 sensor, f/2.2 aperture, 4cm macro option. It now supports 4K recording at up to 60 fps.
The phone has a 4700mAh battery with support for 45W PPS and PD charging, which can charge up to 100% power in 55 minutes. It also has 15W wireless charging and 5W reverse wireless charging.
